Gamlestads Torg is one of Gothenburg's most important interchanges: commuter train, tram and bus meet in one place, and the tram takes about seven minutes into the centre. The city expects as many people to pass through here eventually as pass through Korsvägen today.
Gamlestaden is at the same time one of the city's largest urban development areas. The transformation began around 2010 and is expected to run until around 2040, with the population forecast to double. Around the old SKF blocks and Gamlestadens Fabriker, homes, offices and schools are being built across thirteen detailed plans at various stages.
On top of that comes Sävenäs marshalling yard, rebuilt from September 2027 in a project of just over a billion kronor. Sävenäs lies directly east of Gamlestaden.
For a crew this is the area you choose when the project is somewhere else. From here you reach the centre, Partille, Angered and the E20 without crossing the city, and several of our tenants here commute in different directions in the same week. Utby, just to the east, is quieter and has more parking.
